Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

A rambunctious jaunt with J. Thaddeus Toad on the road to "nowhere in particular." Drive in one of his motorcars around Toad Hall, the streets, in jail, and eventually into the inferno room. This ride can be used as a lesson for your children also "Not to drink and drive!"

a pretty average ride, with three mickey's in the average section. I personally grew up reading The Adventures of Mr. Toad and love this ride! Not thrilling, but pretty cool!!

NOTE: I recommend taking small children on this ride, forget the warnings about how this ride may "scare" your children. This ride can really teach them the fears of drinking and driving and what would "happen".

Before any trip to Disneyland with small children get the storybooks for all the rides and red them prior to the trip. It will make rides like this jump out into reality.

Facts and Secrets

This attraction was one of the original Disneyland Park attractions when Walt opened the park in 1955. It was remodeled in 1983.

Above the entrance to Toad Hall (Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.) you can find a shield bearing the words, "Toadi Acceleratio Semper Absurda." Which translated from latin means "Speeding with Toad is always absurd."

When you enter Toad Hall you will see a statue of Mr. Toad and might notice that his hands were re-attactched. It was! originally his arm was outstretched in front of him and two of his fingers we apart just wide enough that you could slip a cigarette in between them. It obviously does not fit the Disney image so Imagineers moved his arm behind him, but if you lean in and look behind him you will see his fingers ready for a smoke.

Keep an eye out for Mickey Mouse's shadow in Toad Hall's window!

As you first enter the village at night, in one of the upstairs windows there is a shadow of the real Sherlock Holmes, wowzers!

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was first planned to be Disneyland's first roller coaster!
