at the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York introducing a boat ride with audio-animatronic pirates ransacking the ports of the Caribbean. Opened in its classic style in New Orleans Square/ Disneyland CA in March 18, 1967; since then, the pirate life spread throughout Walt Disney World (December 15, 1973), Tokyo Disneyland (April 15, 1983), and Disneyland Paris (April 12, 1992.)

Instead, Imagineers developed plans for a similar attraction called the Western River Expedition, which would have featured cowboys and Indians instead.
